So(ul)journ!

Anyone with a few years on them might remember the iconic commercial of a home makeup and beauty care business, where the salesperson would knock on the door (or ring the doorbell) and cheerfully call out, “Avon Calling!”

We’ve been staying with my son, who lives and works here in Avon, Colorado. I have to say, this place is calling to me. If only I didn’t have a gig back east, it might just be the perfect spot to hang my hat—maybe even for retirement.The air is clean, the walking paths are well-maintained, and the community offers a ton of amenities.

It’s close to Vail and other ski resorts if you’re so inclined.Yesterday, we visited Vail, CO, and took in the Sunday Farmer’s Market and the Betty Ford Alpine Gardens. This place is bustling, even out of season.

We’ve enjoyed Wes’ hospitality—he’s great to spend time with. When we weren’t out exploring, we relaxed by watching movies and shows on Netflix. It was truly a relaxing experience. We even caught the new Deadpool and Wolverine film at the local cinema.

For those who might have been concerned about our relentless traveling over the past week, this week has been much slower.
